What makes us different?

When I first needed pet care for my dogs, I was nervous. They were big, reactive, and selective about the people that came into the home. Traditional dog-walking services didn’t make me feel confident that not only would my dog be safe, but that the humans walking my dog would have the knowledge to keep the public (and themselves!) safe, too. My dogs definitely couldn’t have a rotating cast of people coming in and out of the house. Even more than that, I was putting in so much effort to their behavioral training, only to worry that it could be undone with their daily walks. I felt like I was at a loss, but I needed someone. My dogs are still dogs, and they needed care.

We developed a great relationship with a pet care provider, and that’s the moment I realized: dogs who live with reactivity, anxiety, and other behavioral challenges STILL need care. They need someone with knowledge, understanding, and patience — someone who is willing to work with them despite their unique needs. They deserve the same ability to enjoy fresh air and exercise as any other “friendly” dog. It wasn’t long before I realized that SO many dogs (especially ones living in our busy city of Chicago) struggle with reactivity, anxiety, and more. I work WITH you (and your dog trainer) to make sure that the behaviors you’re working on forming are consistent during their time with me.

I have found immensely rewarding relationships caring for these dogs, and felt the appreciation from the humans that love them — because, at the end of the day, that’s the thing we often forget when we speak about dogs with behavioral challenges: They are beloved members of our families, and they deserve the patience and understanding they need to thrive in our busy world.
